Horschel leads at True South Classic

MADISON, Miss., July 20 (UPI) -- Billy Horschel posted his lowest score on the PGA Tour Friday and had a one-shot lead when play was suspended in the second round of the True South Classic.

Horschel, in his second full season on the tour, had two eagles during a round of 9-under 63 at the Annandale Golf Club.

Heavy rains Thursday cut short the opening round, which was completed early Friday. There was not enough daylight, however, to complete the second round and none of the afternoon starters could finish.

Horschel did complete 36 holes and his two-day total of 13-under 131 gave him a one-shot advantage over Matt Bettencourt.

First-round leader Jason Bohn was at 12-under, tied with Bettencourt, but still had nine holes to go.

This tournament has traditionally been played during the same week as the British Open and with the world's top golfers in England, some of the sport's s lesser-known players have a chance to give their career a huge boost.

Horschel is one of those, having finished no better than a tie for 24th on the tour this year.
