MLB: Cincinnati 4, Arizona 0

CINCINNATI, July 17 (UPI) -- Johnny Cueto fired six shutout innings and Ryan Ludwick backed him with a three-run homer Tuesday, boosting the Cincinnati Reds to a 4-0 whitewash of Arizona.

Cueto (11-5) stymied the Diamondbacks on four hits, overcoming four walks while striking out three for the Reds, who came into the contest with a one-game lead over second-place Pittsburgh in the National League Central.

Jose Arredondo, Sam LeCure and Sean Marshall teamed up for 2 2/3 scoreless relief frames and Aroldis Chapman struck out Aaron Hill with two runners on to end the game, picking up his 14th save.

Ludwick's clout in the third inning extended the Reds' one-run lead and Cincinnati went to on even the four-game series at one victory apiece.

Arizona's Trevor Bauer (1-2) allowed only one hit -- Ludwick's homer -- but surrendered five walks in his three-inning stint, yielding four runs (three earned) overall.
