KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 15 (UPI) -- Chris Sale ran his undefeated streak to 10 starts Sunday and the Chicago White Sox edged Kansas City 2-1.
Sale (11-2), who hasn't lost since May 12, gave up 10 hits over eight frames but managed to hold the Royals to only one run with the help of a pair of double plays turned behind him.
The left-hander didn't issue a walk and struck out four as the American League Central-leading White Sox took the rubber match of a three-game series.
Addison Reed earned his 14th save to secure the victory for Chicago, which won for the seventh time in nine games overall.
Adam Dunn pounded the MLB-best 28th homer in the first inning en route to the victory.
Kansas City's Luis Mendoza (3-6) absorbed the hard-luck loss, surrendering two runs on four hits over 7 1/3 innings.
