ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 15 (UPI) -- Daniel Nava socked a go-ahead homer and Will Middlebrooks went 3-for-4 with two RBI Sunday to pace Boston's 7-3 victory over Tampa Bay.
Nava's lead-off solo shot in the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie and Middlebrooks added a two-run single later in the frame to break the contest open.
Mike Aviles contributed a two-run homer and Jacoby Ellsbury supplied three hits with a run scored as the Red Sox took the rubber match of a three-game set at Tropicana Field.
Josh Beckett (5-7) earned his first victory since May 20, limiting the Rays to three runs on eight hits over six full innings. The right-hander walked two and struck out seven.
Tampa Bay starter James Shields (8-6) was knocked around for six runs on 11 hits, lasting only five frames.
Ben Zobrist went 3-for-4 with an RBI single for the Rays.
