MLS: Philadelphia 2, Montreal 1

CHESTER, Pa., July 14 (UPI) -- Carlos Valdes scored in stoppage time Saturday, lifting the Philadelphia Union to a wild 2-1 victory over Montreal.

After playing 82 minutes without a goal, Philadelphia broke on top when substitute Antoine Hoppenot kept the ball alive along the end line and found Lionard Pajoy, who fired it home from in front of the goal.

The Impact answered 7 minutes later when Patrice Bernier bounced a corner kick off the Union's Keon Daniel for an own-goal.

But Valdes got the decisive tally in the 91st off a throw-in from Sheanon Williams, handing the Union (6-9-2) a third straight victory.

The Impact (6-12-3) saw their lead for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference dwindle to one point over Philadelphia.
