BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., July 14 (UPI) -- Pavel Pardo scored in the 10th minute Saturday, providing all the offense the Chicago Fire would need in their 1-0 decision over Vancouver.
The midfielder scored his initial goal of the season on a free kick, giving the Fire (9-6-4) their first tally in three games.

Chicago used the win to forge a third-place tie with Red Bull New York in the Eastern Conference.
Eric Hassli had the best chance for Vancouver (8-6-6), but his header in the 87th minute was stopped by Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson.
