MLB: Cleveland 1, Toronto 0

TORONTO, July 13 (UPI) -- Justin Masterson and two relievers combined on a five-hit shutout Friday and Travis Hafner's homer gave the Cleveland Indians a 1-0 win over Toronto.

The Indians, who began the second half of the season in second place in the American League Central, scored the game's only run in the second and then turned to Masterson, Vinnie Pestano and Chris Perez to protect the lead.

Masterson (6-8) gave up all five Toronto hits, struck out five and walked one in wining for the fourth time in six starts.

Pestano and Perez each worked a perfect inning, with Perez recording his 25th save.

Hafner's homer, his eighth, came as the leadoff batter in the second. He hit an 0-1 pitch from Ricky Romero to right field.

Romero gave up (8-5) gave up five other hits over six innings.
