Mets' Dillon Gee hospitalized for blood clot

NEW YORK, July 10 (UPI) -- New York Mets pitcher Dillon Gee remained hospitalized Tuesday after being treated for an arterial blood clot in his right shoulder.

Gee experienced numbness in the fingers of his right hand Sunday and underwent extensive testing at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Monday. Doctors found the clot and used a catheter to break it up.

He will remain hospitalized for the next day or two to ensure the problem has been fully resolved.

Gee go on the disabled list, missing his next start. It wasn't clear when he would return to the Mets' rotation.

Gee is 6-7 with a 4.10 earned run average.
