MLB: Washington 4, Colorado 1

WASHINGTON, July 7 (UPI) -- Gio Gonzalez racked up his 12th win with six efficient innings Saturday and the Washington bullpen shut down Colorado in the Nationals' 4-1 victory.

Gonzalez (12-3) joined the New York Mets' R.A. Dickey as the major leagues' only 12-game winners, limiting the Rockies to one run. The left-hander yielded three hits, walked three and fanned six.

Ryan Mattheus, Sean Burnett and Tyler Clipped combined for three scoreless innings to finish off the win, with Clippard earning his 14th save as the National League East leaders evened their three-game series.

Ryan Zimmerman's RBI single in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie. The Nationals added two more runs on errors by pitcher Josh Roenicke and catcher Wilin Rosario.

Ian Desmond supplied a solo homer for the winners.

Colorado's Jeff Francis (2-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits in a five-inning effort.
