Marcel Siem leads on European Tour

PARIS, July 6 (UPI) -- Marcel Siem shot his second straight 68 Friday and survived a weather delay to take a one-shot lead after 36 holes of the Open de France.

Siem moved to 6-under-par 136 at the midway point of the event in a bid to win his second title on the European Tour. He captured the Dunhill Championship in 2004.

Alexander Noren was alone in second place at 137 after firing a 67 on the Albatross Course at Le Golf National. Anders Hansen and George Goetzee shared third at 138.

First-round leader Christian Nilsson stumbled to a 75, leaving him in a tie for eighth at 140.

Rain and high winds forced an 80-minute delay in the action.

"If you shoot a few under on the golf course, it doesn't matter what the conditions are, it's a good score," Siem said.

The cut came at 3-over 145, and among those missing it were Miguel Angel Jimenez, Paul Casey and defending British Open champion Darren Clarke.
