MLB: New York Mets 11, Philadelphia 1

NEW YORK, July 3 (UPI) -- Daniel Murphy and David Wright each drove in four runs and Jonathon Niese dominated Philadelphia over eight innings Tuesday in the New York Mets' 11-1 win.

Murphy went 4-for-5, delivering a pair RBI doubles, while Wright pounded a three-run homer for the Mets, who took the opener of a three-game series against their National League East rivals.

Niese (7-3) supplied a two-run single to help his own cause while holding the Phillies to three hits. The left-hander won his third straight start, yielding a pair of walks while striking out three.

Phillies starter Vance Worley (4-5) was roughed up for six runs on 10 hits in a four-inning stint.

Carlos Ruiz socked a solo homer for Philadelphia, losers of six straight.
