COMMERCE CITY, Colo., June 30 (UPI) -- Jaime Castrillon and Conor Casey scored first-half goals Saturday and the Colorado Rapids cruised to a 3-0 victory over Portland.
The Rapids struck in the 17th minute when Hunter Freeman found an open Castrillon in the center of the penalty box and the Colorado midfielder redirected it for a 1-0 lead.
Colorado doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute when Brian Mullan connected with Casey on a pinpoint pass and the striker headed it home.
Jamie Smith also scored for the Rapids (7-8-1), who snapped a two-game losing streak.
The Timbers (4-7-4) never mounted much of an attack against Colorado.
