MLB: N.Y. Yankees 4, Chi. White Sox 0

NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Hiroki Kuroda fired seven shutout innings Saturday, staking the New York Yankees to a 4-0 whitewash of the Chicago White Sox.

Kuroda (8-7) baffled Chicago on three hits, walking one and striking out 11 en route to the victory in a match-up of American League division leaders.

The Japanese right-hander won for the fourth time in five starts, tossing 68 of his 107 pitches for strikes for the AL East-leading Yankees, who posted their first win in a four-game series against the AL Central-leading Chisox.

Dewayne Wise went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI while Curtis Granderson pounded his 23rd homer and Robinson Cano also went deep in the victory.

Jake Peavy (6-5) absorbed a complete-game loss for the White Sox, striking out 11 while allowing four runs on eight hits as Chicago saw its four-game winning streak broken.
