PITTSBURGH, June 24 (UPI) -- Justin Verlander logged a complete-game victory and Delmon Young drove in the go-ahead run Sunday in Detroit's 3-2 interleague win over Pittsburgh.
Verlander (8-4) allowed a pair of runs while taking his third straight start, handling the Pirates on five hits and a walk.
The Tigers ace struck out seven in the 117-pitch performance, which enabled Detroit to salvage one victory in a three-game interleague set at PNC Park.
He yielded a two-run homer to Garrett Jones in the seventh as the Pirates forged a 2-2 tie, but Detroit came right back in the next half-inning when Young's groundball single off Chris Resop (0-3) chased home Quintin Berry with the go-ahead tally.
Berry also knocked a two-run homer -- his first major-league blast -- for the victors.
Kevin Correia issued a pair of runs on six hits over six innings for the Bucs, who missed a chance to pull into a first-place tie with Cincinnati atop the National League Central.
The Reds lost to Minnesota 4-3 earlier Sunday.
