Surging Paszek wins Aegon International

EASTBOURNE, England, June 23 (UPI) -- Tamira Paszek of Austria Saturday beat Angelique Kerber of Germany for the Aegon International title in Eastborne, England, in the final tuneup for Wimbledon.

Paszek, ranked 59th in the world, won the last three games of the match to grab a 5-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over the fifth-seeded Kerber.

Paszek had come into the tournament at Eastbourne with a 2-10 record for the season and will find herself pitted against former No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in next week's Wimbledon opener. Her run in Eastbourne also included wins over defending champion Marion Bartoli and 2010 Wimbledon semifinalist Tsvetana Pironkova.
