PONTIAC, Mich., June 21 (UPI) -- Protection orders granted former Detroit Red Wings star Darren McCarty against three former friends have been dissolved.

But an order involving Tonya Juhl, a former girlfriend, was left in place for the moment, The Detroit News reported. Lawyers for McCarty and his wife, Sheryl, and Juhl said after Wednesday's hearing they hope to reach an amicable solution.

McCarty sought court orders last month, saying he was being harassed by people who could not accept his decision to give up a lifestyle of drugs, drinking and sex. He said he felt like his wife and their six children were under threat.

A right wing, McCarty, 40, played for the Red Wings from 1996 to 2004 and went briefly to the Calgary Flames. After a period in the minors, he returned to the Red Wings in 2008 and helped the team win its and his fourth Stanley Cup.

McCarty was known as the Wings' enforcer. During the hearing, when Juhl's lawyer Albert Addis asked McCarty about his history of getting into fights, Oakland Circuit Judge Joan Young answered the question: "He's a hockey player."
