MLB: San Diego 1, Seattle 0

SEATTLE, June 14 (UPI) -- Yonder Alonso hit a home run Wednesday and four San Diego pitchers combined on a shutout in bringing the Padres a 1-0 victory over Seattle.

Alonso's homer came in the seventh inning and helped bring San Diego its first back-to-back wins since May 19-20. The Padres had gone 4-15 prior to winning two straight against the Mariners.

San Diego has captured two in a row on the road for the first time since the final month of the 2011 campaign.

Jason Marquis (3-5) won his first game for the Padres after being dealt from Minnesota this year. It was his second start for San Diego and he allowed six hits with four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings.

Huston Street struck out one in the ninth for his seventh save.

Hector Noesi (2-7) gave up the home run during a seven-inning performance to take the loss. It was the fourth setback in a row for the Mariners.
