NEWARK, N.J., June 9 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur turned away 25 shots Saturday and the New Jersey Devils again avoided elimination in the Stanley Cup Finals with a 2-1 win over Los Angeles.

Brodeur stopped all nine shots he saw in the final period, helping the Devils cling to a one-goal advantage down the stretch and secure their second straight do-or-die win against the Kings.

Bryce Salvador's goal on the redirection of an Alexei Ponikarovsky shot midway through the second period broke a 1-1 tie and held up the rest of the way as New Jersey forced a Game 6 following losses in the first three contests of the finals.

Zach Parise also scored for the Devils, who killed off both Kings power plays in the victory.

Jonathan Quick made 17 saves and Justin Williams scored for the Kings, who will again attempt to close out their first NHL championship Monday at Staples Center.
