NEWPORT, Wales, June 3 (UPI) -- Thongchai Jaidee survived a shaky finish Sunday to claim the Wales Open with a round of 1-over 72, winning the event by a single stroke.
Jaidee recorded bogeys on two of the last three holes, but still managed to complete 72 holes at 6-under 278 -- one shot better than four competitors at minus-5.

The victory at Celtic Manor was the fifth of Jaidee's European Tour career, but his first at a European venue.
Tied for second were Joost Luiten (72), Thomas Bjorn (68), Richard Sterne (68) and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (67).
Finished knotted for sixth place at 4-under 280 were Ross Fisher (73) -- who assessed a one-stroke penalty for slow play -- and Paul McGinley (65).
