Driver reworks contract with Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis., May 30 (UPI) -- Donald Driver, Green Bay's all-time leading receiver, announced Wednesday he had agreed to a contract that will keep him with the Packers.

Although the Packers had yet to announce the deal, Driver said he had restructured his contract. Under terms of his old deal, the Packers could have released Driver had he not come to a new agreement.

Driver's agent told a local television station that the sides had agreed to the major points of a contract with only final details to be completed.

"I'm happy. I'll retire as a Packer and that's all that really matters," Driver said at the team's headquarters following a workout. "We came together and made a decision and now I'm done. When it's all said and done, I get to walk out of here knowing that I've done everything that I can.

"I'm going to continue to play football, I'm going to embrace every moment of it."

Driver, 37, caught only 37 passes for 445 yards last season, his lowest totals in a decade. Since joining the team as a seventh-round draft pick in 1999, Driver has caught 735 passes for 10,060 yards and 59 touchdowns.
