PARIS, May 29 (UPI) -- Rafael Nadal dropped just five games Tuesday in the opening defense of his 2011 French Open championship. Nadal, seeded No. 2 this year, raced past Simone Bolelli 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 in a match in which he made just 18 unforced errors. He is seeking a record seventh title at the French Open overall and third straight. He's 46-1 all-time at Roland Garros.

No. 4-seeded Andy Murray also opened his French Open with a straight-set win, taking out Tatsuma Ito 6-1, 7-5, 6-0. Murray lost his serve just once and didn't see a break point in the first and third sets.
No. 6-seeded David Ferrer sailed by Lukas Lacko 6-3, 6-4, 6-1; eighth-seeded Janko Tipsarevic got by Sam Querrey 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 while Juan Monaco was a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) winner over Guillaume Rufin in other first-round action.
Sergiy Stakhovsky knocked off 16th-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-3 behind a pair of fifth-set breaks in the day's only upset of a seeded player.
Other first-round winners Tuesday included 12th-seeded Nicolas Almagro, No. 17 Richard Gasquet, 27th-seeded Mikhail Youzhny, 29th-seeded Julien Benneteau and No. 32 Florian Mayer.
Unseeded players moving into the second round were Benoit Paire, Tommy Haas, Jeremy Chardy, Dmitry Tursunov, Denis Istomin, Lukas Rosol, Robin Haase, Grigor Dimitrov, Marcos Baghdatis, Eduardo Schwank and Jarkko Nieminen.
