MLB: Chicago White Sox 7, Tampa Bay 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 29 (UPI) -- Dayan Viciedo went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI Tuesday and the Chicago White Sox took over first place in the AL Central with a 7-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Viciedo scored three times while Alexei Ramirez added two hits and a pair of RBI for Chicago, which notched its seventh straight victory and vaulted past Cleveland for the top spot in the division.

Phil Humber (2-2) held the Rays to two runs on five hits in a seven-inning performance, issuing one walk while fanning five as the White Sox took their 11th win in 12 games.

James Shields (6-3) absorbed the loss despite striking out eight over six innings. He surrendered six runs (five earned) on 10 hits.

Veteran slugger Hideki Matsui, promoted from Class AAA Durham before the game, socked a two-run homer in his debut for the Rays, who fell for third time in four games.
