BOSTON, May 28 (UPI) -- Felix Doubront tossed six solid innings Monday and the Boston Red Sox banged out 13 hits Monday in their 7-4 victory over Detroit.
Doubront (5-2) tamed the Tigers on a pair of runs, surrendering four hits (two of them solo homers) and just one walk while striking out three en route to the victory.
The Bosox left-hander won for the fourth time in five starts, throwing 64 of his 95 pitches for strikes.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered among his two hits and David Ortiz also delivered a pair of hits and an RBI for the Red Sox, who won the opener of a four-game series at Fenway Park.
Ryan Sweeney went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the victory.
Tigers starter Doug Fister (0-3) was roughed up for six runs on 11 hits over five frames.
Jhonny Peralta socked a two-run homer while Delmon Young and Gerald Laird added solo shots in Detroit's loss.
