OAKLAND, Calif., May 27 (UPI) -- Hiroki Kuroda hurled eight shutout innings Sunday, baffling the Athletics on four hits in the New York Yankees' 2-0 sweep of Oakland.

Kuroda (4-6) broke a personal two-game losing streak, yielding only one walk and striking out three while tossing 67 of his 104 pitches for strikes.

Rafael Soriano nailed down his fifth save as New York wrapped up a three-game series sweep of the Athletics and its fifth straight win overall.

Mark Teixeira went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and Andruw Jones knocked a solo homer to provide the Yankees' offense.

A's starter Tommy Milone (6-4) yielded two runs on eight hits in a 6 2/3-inning stint.
