TORONTO, May 26 (UPI) -- Danny Koevermans scored in the 88th minute Saturday, handing Toronto FC its first win of the year with a 1-0 decision over Philadelphia.
It seemed as though TFC's winless streak to start the season would stretch to 10 games, but Koevermans beat goalkeeper Chris Konopka off the rebound of a quick reaction save and it proved enough to break the skid.

The long-sought first win enabled 10th-place Toronto (1-9-0) to move within five points of ninth-place Philadelphia (2-7-2) in the Eastern Conference.
Konopka had preserved the scoreless tie 8 minutes earlier when he stopped Toronto's Torsten Frings during a one-on-one opportunity.
