MLB: Chicago White Sox 9, Cleveland 3

CHICAGO, May 25 (UPI) -- Dayan Viciedo finished off a late-game Chicago surge with a two-run homer Friday, allowing the White Sox to pull away for a 9-3 win over Cleveland.

Chicago won its third in a row and has captured seven out of eight.

Adam Dunn had a two-run homer for the White Sox in the first and A.J. Pierzynski contributed a solo shot in the second, but Chicago held only a 3-2 lead heading into the sixth.

The White Sox scored three times in both the sixth and seventh innings to put the game away.

Pierzynski scored on a single by Alexei Ramirez in the sixth and Alejandro De Aza then delivered a two-run base hit.

Pierzynski had an RBI triple in the seventh and came in on Viciedo's ninth homer of the season.

Jose Quintana (1-0) collected his first major league victory, giving up two runs on four hits in six innings.

The White Sox got to Jeanmar Gomez (3-3) for six runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
