MLB: San Francisco 14, Miami 7

MIAMI, May 24 (UPI) -- Angel Pagan and Melky Cabrera combined for eight RBI Thursday and led a late-game assault that lifted the San Francisco Giants to a 14-7 victory over Miami.

The score was deadlocked at 1-1 through five innings but the teams erupted for 19 runs the rest of the way. The Giants and Marlins combined for 28 hits.

San Francisco broke open the tight game with a four-run sixth that featured a two-run double by Pagan. The Giants added three more in the seventh, two of them scoring on a double by Cabrera and the third run coming in on a fielder's choice grounder from Pagan.

Cabrera contributed another two-run double during a four-run eighth and the Giants added two unearned runs in the ninth.

The 14 runs were six more than San Francisco had scored in a game this year. The Giants came into the contest ranked among the bottom third among National League teams in runs scored.

San Francisco starter Ryan Vogelsong (3-2) lasted 6 1/3 innings to get the win. He gave up three runs on seven hits.

Anibal Sanchez (2-3) surrendered five runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
