MLB: Chicago White Sox 11, Minnesota 8

CHICAGO, May 24 (UPI) -- Alejandro De Aza highlighted a home run fest with a grand slam during a six-run sixth Thursday, igniting the Chicago White Sox to an 11-8 win over Minnesota.

There were eight homers in the game, five of them by the White Sox. Justin Morneau hit two of Minnesota's three long balls.

The Twins had a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Paul Konerko and Alex Rios homered to open the inning off Cole DeVries (0-1).

DeVries, called up earlier in the week and making his major league debut, was then relieved by Brian Duensing, who quickly ran into problems.

Dayan Viciedo doubled with one out and went to third on an infield single by Alexei Ramirez. Orlando Hudson drew a walk to load the bases and De Aza followed with a home run to right.

A.J. Pierzynski hit a solo homer for Chicago in the second and Viciedo had another in the eighth.

Morneau's shots, in the seventh and ninth, accounted for three runs. Joe Mauer contributed a solo home run for the Twins during a three-run fifth.

Nate Jones (2-0) was credited with the win after throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Philip Humber.

Humber has an 0-2 record in six starts since pitching a perfect game against Seattle April 21.
