HOUSTON, May 23 (UPI) -- Wandy Rodriguez worked in and out of trouble while giving up a lone run in seven innings Wednesday, lifting Houston to a 5-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.

The Astros finished off a three-game sweep and won for the sixth time in eight outings. The Cubs' losing streak stretched to nine games.

Rodriguez (4-4) gave up a homer to Reed Johnson in the first and escaped with the win despite giving up eight hits. Chicago put two runners on base in both the third and fifth innings without scoring and wasted a leadoff double in the sixth.

The Astros took the lead on a two-run triple in the fourth by J.D. Martinez, who then drove in the first of three Houston runs in the eighth with a single. The other eighth-inning runs came when Matt Downs drew a bases-loaded walk and Jose Altuve was hit by a pitch, also with the bases loaded.

Jeff Samardzija (4-3) allowed only two runs in six innings, but was still saddled with the loss.
