The Mets grabbed the lead in the eighth off Juan Cruz (1-1) when Lucas Duda chased home Mike Baxter with a ground single off the glove of diving first baseman Garrett Jones, breaking a 1-1 tie.

New York added the eventual winning run when Kirk Nieuwenhuis came home after third baseman Pedro Alvarez misplayed Daniel Murphy's grounder.
