Irving, Rubio lead NBA rookie team

NEW YORK, May 22 (UPI) -- NBA Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving was the only unanimous choice in voting for the NBA All-Rookie First Team, announced Tuesday in New York.

The Cleveland Cavaliers guard got 58 points in voting held among NBA head coaches. Irving had an average of 18.5 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 51 games this season.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio finished second with 49 points after averaging 10.6 points and 8.2 assists per game in his rookie season.

Kenneth Faried of the Denver Nuggets was third with 46 points, followed by Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors with 43.

Iman Shumpert of the New York Knicks, Kawhi Leonard of the San Antonio Spurs and Chandler Parsons of the Detroit Pistons were tied for fifth place with 40 points each.

The NBA All-Rookie Second Team included Chandler Parsons of the Houston Rockets, Isaiah Thomas of the Sacramento Kings, MarShon Brooks of the New Jersey Nets, Derrick Williams of Minnesota and Tristan Thompson of Cleveland.
