MLB: Toronto 6, Tampa Bay 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 21 (UPI) -- Yunel Escobar went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead homer in the sixth inning Monday and the Toronto Blue Jays went on to a 6-2 victory over Tampa Bay.

With the score tied 2-2 in the sixth, Escobar blasted a pitch from Jeremy Hellickson (4-1) over the wall in the deepest part of left-center field, putting Toronto ahead to stay.

Kelly Johnson, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion each added an RBI for the Blue Jays, who reeled off their fifth win in six games and took the opener of a three-game set at Tropicana Field.

Kyle Drabek (4-4) overcame six walks to earn the victory, yielding a pair of runs on three hits over six innings.

Only two of the five runs surrendered by Hellickson over 7 1/3 innings were earned. The right-hander issued one walk and fanned three.

B.J. Upton socked a solo homer in the Rays' loss.
