KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 20 (UPI) -- Wade Miley and two relievers teamed up for seven-hit shutout Sunday and the Arizona Diamondbacks squeezed past Kansas City 2-0 in an interleague game.

Miley (5-1) allowed three runners to reach third base but pitched out of trouble each time, scattering six hits and a pair of walks while striking out three.

The rookie left-hander won his second start in a row, lowering his ERA 2.14.

David Hernandez tossed a scoreless eighth and J.J. Putz racked up his ninth save as the Diamondbacks took the rubber match of a three-game interleague set.

Justin Upton and John McDonald each drove in a run Arizona.

Royals starter Nate Adcock (0-2) absorbed the hard-luck loss, yielding one run on five hits over five frames.

Jeff Francoeur went 4-for-4 for Kansas City.
