CLEVELAND, May 19 (UPI) -- Jeanmar Gomez and three Indians relievers teamed up on a three-hit shutout Saturday, staking Cleveland to a 2-0 interleague victory over Miami.
Gomez (3-2) turned in his second straight strong start, blanking the Marlins on three hits while issuing two walks and striking out four. Joe Smith and Vinnie Pestano combined for 1 2/3 scoreless innings and Chris Perez struck out the side in the ninth for his 13th save as the American League Central-leading Indians evened their three-game series against the Marlins.
Asdrubal Cabrera socked a solo homer and Jason Kipnis added a sacrifice fly for Cleveland.
Miami's Anibal Sanchez (2-2) absorbed the hard-luck loss, yielding just the two runs on seven hits over seven innings.
