MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 8, San Diego 1

SAN DIEGO, May 17 (UPI) -- Aaron Harang pitched seven shutout innings Thursday and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat San Diego 8-1.

Harang (3-2) limited the Padres to four hits while striking out six and walking none for the Dodgers, who split a two-game series with the Padres.

A.J. Ellis had two hits, two RBI and one run scored for the Dodgers, who got two hits, one RBI and two runs from both Andre Ethier and Bobby Abreu.

Adam Kennedy scored twice for Los Angeles, which had lost two straight after winning five in a row.

Edinson Volquez (2-3) took the loss, allowing five runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and three walks over five innings. Volquez struck out six.

San Diego lost for the third time in five games.
