SAN FRANCISCO, May 17 (UPI) -- David Freese hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh Friday and Jamie Garcia struck out nine over 7 1/3 innings, bringing St. Louis a 4-1 win over San Francisco.
Garcia (3-2) gave up nine hits, but the Giants could manage only a sixth-inning run on a one-out single by Buster Posey. With runners on first and second and just one away, Garcia got out of the inning when Brett Pill grounded into a double play.
