MLB: Baltimore 5, Kansas City 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 17 (UPI) -- J.J. Hardy had a two-run, seventh-inning single Thursday that lifted the Baltimore Orioles to a 5-3 come-from-behind victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Kansas City led 3-0 after Humberto Quintero doubled in two runs and scored another in the third but didn't manage another run off Baltimore starter Brian Matusz (3-4).

Matusz gave up seven hits -- five in the third inning -- and walked one while striking out two.

Kansas City starter Luke Hochevar (3-4) lasted six innings, giving up seven hits and four runs. He walked one and struck out six.

Baltimore started its comeback with a two-run home run by Adam Jones in the fourth. It was his 13th of the season; only Texas' Josh Hamilton, with 18, has more this season in the majors.

Wilson Betemit and Chris Davis opened the seventh with singles, with Betemit scoring because of an error in tying the score. The Royals changed pitchers and reliever Aaron Crow got the next two batters but walked Luis Exposito and Xavier Avery.

Hardy came through with a broken-bat single to right that drove in Davis and Exposito.
