Tim Byrdak and Bobby Parnell combined for a scoreless eighth inning but closer Frank Francisco had to survive a rocky ninth to collect his ninth save.

He fanned pinch-hitter George Kottaras with two on and two out to end the game after earlier yielding an RBI single to Corey Hart.

Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with and RBI single to lead the Mets' offense.

Yovani Gallardo (2-4) absorbed the loss. He allowed two runs on only two hits but issued six walks while striking out six over six frames.
