SEVILLE, Spain, May 4 (UPI) -- Gregory Bourdy had eight birdies Friday in taking the lead at the European Tour's Spanish Open, where strong winds were affecting play.

Bourdy had a second-round of 6-under-par 66 and will take a one-stroke lead into the weekend with a 36-hole total of 5-under 139.

Jorge Campillo (72), Simon Dyson (69), Matteo Manassero (70) and Robert Rock (72) are tied for second at 4-under. Three other players are at 3-under.

First-round leader Shaun Micheel, despite three consecutive birdies in one stretch, soared to a 5-over 77 Friday and is at even-par 144 for the tournament. He is tied for 20th.

Bourdy was one of the players affected by rain and wind Thursday when his round included two double bogeys and two bogeys against five birdies.

Winds were still an issue Friday but Bourdy managed four birdies and a bogey on each nine. He closed sharply, getting four birdies over Nos. 13-17. He had par 4s on 14 and 18 -- the two holes he had double bogeys on in the opening round.

Manassero had the cleanest round among the leaders, posting one bogey and three birdies along with 14 pars.
