ATLANTA, May 2 (UPI) -- Chipper Jones' two-run homer with no one out in the 11th inning Wednesday lifted Atlanta to a wild 15-13 victory over Philadelphia.
The teams combined for 36 hits with Atlanta rallying from deficits of six runs early in the game and four runs late in the contest.
Philadelphia built a 6-0 lead through 4 1/2 innings thanks, in part, to a three-run double by Laynce Nix in the third, but eventually wasted a seven-RBI effort from Carlos Ruiz.
Ruiz doubled home a run in the fifth, had a three-run homer in the seventh and added a three-run double in the eighth.
Atlanta tied it with a six-run fifth that featured a grand slam homer from Brian McCann, but the Braves then fell behind 12-8 heading into the bottom of the eighth.
The Braves, however, produced five runs in that inning to go in front. A two-run single by Martin Prado was the key hit of the frame.
Philadelphia forced extra innings when Shane Victorino's infield single brought home Juan Pierre with the tying run in the ninth.
Dan Uggla led off the Atlanta 11th with a single against Brian Sanches (0-1) and Jones homered to right on a 3-2 pitch to end the game.
Chad Durbin (1-0) got the win by retiring the side in the top of the 11th.
