MLB: Philadelphia 4, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, May 1 (UPI) -- John Mayberry scored the go-ahead run on an eighth-inning wild pitch Tuesday and the Philadelphia Phillies went on to a 4-2 victory over Atlanta.

Mayberry collected a one-out pinch-hit single off Jonny Venters (2-1) with the scored tied 2-2 and then went to third when Jimmy Rollins followed with a base hit.

Placido Polanco then struck out on a wild pitch, which allowed Mayberry to score, and the Phillies added another run when Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence each singled.

The rally made a winner of Anthony Bastardo (1-1), who pitched a scoreless seventh inning in relief of start Cole Hamels.

Jonathan Papelbon racked up his ninth save with a 1-2-3 ninth as the Phillies took the opener of a three-game series at Turner Field.

Brian McCann homered for Atlanta, which lost for the third time in four games.
