Errani moves to second round in Budapest

BUDAPEST, Hungary, May 1 (UPI) -- No. 1-seed Sara Errani dropped just two games Tuesday in a first-round match at the Budapest Grand Prix tennis tournament in Hungary.

Errani was on the court 66 minutes in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mandy Minella, winning 64 percent of the points on serve and 65 percent when receiving Minella's serve. Errani did lose her serve once but also finished off 6-of-10 break-point chances.

Second-seeded Ksenia Pervak had a much tougher time in getting past Vera Dushevina 6-1, 5-7, 7-6 (8-6) in a match that took more than 3 hours. Pervak had Dushevina on the defensive throughout with 23 break-point chances. She managed to get seven breaks.

Alberta Brianti edged past eighth-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in the only other match Tuesday with a seeded player.

Melinda Czink claimed a 6-7 (3-7), 6-0, 6-3 win over Mervana Jugic-Salkic by taking nearly two-thirds of the points in the final two sets. She'll face Errani in the second round.

Other results Tuesday, as the first-round was completed, saw Alexandra Cadantu rout Magdalena Rybarikova 6-2, 6-1; Akgul Amanmuradova slip past Michaella Krajicek 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (8-6); Hsieh Su-Wei beat Timea Babos 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 6-1; and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova advance when, after the players split the first two sets, Jasmina Tinjic retired.
