CINCINNATI, April 29 (UPI) -- Cincinnati's Jay Bruce pounded a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning Sunday, lifting the Reds to a series-clinching 6-5 win over Houston.
With the scored tied 5-5 in the eighth, Bruce smacked the first pitch from Fernando Rodriguez (0-3) over the right field fence -- the fourth straight game in which the Cincinnati outfielder has gone deep.
Joey Votto's two-run double in the seventh erased a 5-3 deficit for Cincinnati, which took the rubber match of the three-game series and won for the seventh time in 10 games overall.
Votto also smacked a two-run homer in the victory.
Lyle Ondrusek (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless eighth and Sean Marshall nailed down his fifth save for the Reds.
Jed Lowrie drove in three with a two-run homer and RBI single for the Astros.
