NHL: Florida 3, New Jersey 0

SUNRISE, Fla., April 21 (UPI) -- Jose Theodore turned aside all 30 shots he saw Saturday and Florida grabbed the advantage in its playoff series with a 3-0 victory over New Jersey.

Theodore made 13 stops in the final period and has allowed only eight goals over 10 periods of work in the first-round series, enabling the Panthers to grab a 3-games-to-2 advantage over the Devils.

Kris Versteeg's goal 4 minutes into the second period put Florida ahead to stay and he assisted on Scottie Upshall's tally with 6:43 remaining in the final frame.

Tomas Kopecky added a short-handed empty-net goal to ice the win for Florida, which will attempt to close out the series with Tuesday's Game 6 in New Jersey.

Martin Brodeur yielded two goals on 32 shots for the Devils.
