Miyazato pulls away for LPGA win

HONOLULU, April 21 (UPI) -- Ai Miyazato heated up down the stretch with three late birdies Saturday, using the streak to claim the LPGA LOTTE Championship with a 2-under 70.

The performance enabled Miyazato to finish at 12-under 276, four shots better than a pair of competitors, and claim her eighth career LPGA Tour title.

She entered the day with a three-stroke lead, lost it, but then regained her composure by birdying three of the last six holes to corral her first win since last year's Evian Masters.

Meena Lee (70) and Azahara Munoz (71) was close until the end, but finished by sharing second place at minus-8 at Ko Olina Golf Club.

Tied for fourth one shot further back were Cristie Kerr (72) and So Yeon Ryu (71) and Cristie Kerr (72), while Suzann Pettersen (69) ended alone in sixth at 6-under 282.
