MLB: St. Louis 2, Cincinnati 1

ST. LOUIS, April 18 (UPI) -- Matt Carpenter drove in the decisive run with a 10th-inning sacrifice fly Tuesday and St. Louis continued its hot start with a 2-1 win over Cincinnati.

David Freese drew a walk off Sam LeCure (0-1) to start the 10th and pinch-runner Tyler Greene went to second on Yadier Molina's sacrifice. Jon Jay was intentionally walked and Bill Bray came in to pitch to Daniel Descalso.

The Cardinals' second baseman coaxed an unintentional walk to load the bases, and pinch-hitter Carpenter then lofted a deep fly to left, chasing home Greene with the game-winner.

Jason Motte (1-0) picked up the victory with a scoreless top of the 10th.

Carlos Beltran went 2-for-3 with a solo homer for the Cards, who improved to 8-3 in their first 11 games.

Zack Cozart got the Reds' only RBI.
