MLB: St. Louis 11, Cincinnati 1

ST. LOUIS, April 18 (UPI) -- Rafael Furcal had four of the Cardinals' 14 hits Wednesday and St. Louis broke loose early in blasting Cincinnati 11-1.

David Freese had a two-run double during a three-run first inning and Carlos Beltran added a two-run homer in the second to put the Cardinals in control.

Starting pitcher Jaime Garcia helped his own cause in the sixth with a two-run triple and Tyler Greene tacked on a two-run blast in the eighth. Furcal also had two RBI, driving in a run each with singles in the sixth and eighth.

Garcia (2-0) allowed a run on seven hits while walking three and striking out three. It was the Cardinals' fourth straight victory.

Mat Latos (0-2) suffered the loss after giving up eight runs on nine hits in 5 2/3. The Reds have dropped five out of six.
