CHICAGO, April 18 (UPI) -- Jake Peavy allowed a run on four hits over seven innings Wednesday in carrying the Chicago White Sox over Baltimore 8-1.
Peavy (2-0) had eight strikeouts and did not walk a batter to bring Chicago its first win over Baltimore in three tries. They conclude a four-game series Thursday.

Baltimore's lone run came on a second-inning double by Endy Chavez. The White Sox went in front for good in the bottom half of the frame on a two-run homer by A.J. Pierzynski.
Alejandro De Aza added a solo shot to give Chicago a 4-1 cushion and the White Sox added four in the sixth with two of the runs coming in on a double by Adam Dunn.
All eight runs were charged to Tommy Hunter (1-1), who allowed nine hits and four walks over 5 2/3.
