NHL: Florida 4, New Jersey 3

NEWARK, N.J., April 17 (UPI) -- Brian Campbell scored the go-ahead goal Tuesday and the Florida Panthers rallied to beat New Jersey 4-3 and take the lead in their playoff series.

The Panthers stormed back after spotting the Devils an early 3-0 lead.

Sean Bergenheim and Jason Garrison netted power-play goals 3 1/2 minutes apart late in the first period, and Mike Weaver collected the equalizer 2:18 into the middle frame.

Less than 4 minutes later, New Jersey's Petr Sykora was whistled for high-sticking and Campbell tallied on the resulting power play.

The Panthers hung on the rest of the way to grab a 2-games-to-1 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

Scott Clemmensen didn't allow a goal on 19 shots after relieving Jose Theodore, who was yanked early after yielding three scores on six shots.

Zach Parise, Stephen Gionta and Patrik Elias all scored for the Devils within the game's first 6:16.

New Jersey's Martin Brodeur was pulled after surrendering three goals on 12 shots. Johan Hedberg came in to turn aside 13-of-14.

The Devils will try to even the series Thursday in Game 4.
