MLB: Pittsburgh 4, San Francisco 1

SAN FRANCISCO, April 15 (UPI) -- Kevin Correia tossed six strong innings and Garrett Jones homered Sunday in the Pittsburgh Pirates' 4-1 win over San Francisco.

Correia (1-0) turned in his second strong performance to start the season, limiting the Giants to one run on three hits over six frames. He walked one and struck out two.

Jones' solo blast in the second inning put Pittsburgh ahead to stay while Alex Presley added two hits and an RBI single for the Bucs, who avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of the Giants.

San Francisco starter Ryan Vogelsong (0-1) pitched well in defeat, surrendering two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 frames.

Emmanuel Burriss got the Giants' only RBI.
